By following some of these moving tips you can save yourself a huge amount of time and hassle before and after the move is complete.

• Pack up and take with you an overnight bag, once you get to the new place you will want everything that you need straight away on hand. Things like a wash bag and a change of clothes with a towel packed. It will save you digging through boxes once you get to the new location if you want to freshen up.
• A great idea is to try and clean the new place the day before the big move, clean everything down and equip the bathroom with toilet paper and soap. Put the curtains up and stock the closets with hangers.
• If you are packing bottles of things like shampoo and so forth then tape the lids so they can’t open and leak everywhere, it really helps.
• Shrink wrap can be a person’s best friend when moving, cover draws with it to stop things shifting.
• Small zip lock bags can be used to hold any screws and bolts that might be needed to reassembly items.
• Electronics can be a nightmare to figure out where all the wires go to reconnect a device, label with tape and also take a picture as a guide to where all the wires go on a TV or any other device like a stereo.
• Vacuum seal bags are really worth the investment, not only do they save space but they keep everything fresh and organized.
• Any old items you don’t need then don’t bring them, donate pieces to charities and friends. You can even put items up on the free section on craigslist.
• If you have movers coming to shift you then make sure everything is good to go. The last thing movers want to see is customers still packing up rooms when they get there, not only could it add to the price of your move for wasting their time it will also make you look unorganized.
• If you are moving out of place and its rented then take pictures to prove there is no damage, when you get to the new place take lots of photos to point out any damages to the building owner before you settle in.
• Make sure to fill any holes in the wall of your old place, it can be the difference between getting back the security deposit.
• Make sure to change your address a week or so before you move, you can go online to this and it costs a dollar.
